  • Aspirin. 

Store-bought options tend to provide relief the fastest. Over-the-counter medications like aspirin can help reduce the pain caused by toothache. Aspirin slows down the production of a chemical in our body that causes us to feel pain. Therefore, aspirin does not really fix the problem but provides a short-term solution.

Once you swallow the medicine, it reaches your intestines and then gets dissolved in your bloodstream. The medication is then spread to different parts of your body through your bloodstream, inhibiting the pain-causing chemicals and bringing relief. 

  • Apply a cold compress. 

Applying a cold compress is one of the most popular homemade methods of relieving a toothache. As a child, you might have seen your mother bring you a bag of frozen peas anytime you experienced pain. If you do not have hydrogen peroxide in your house, you could also use a mixture of salt and warm water. This solution has antibacterial properties. 

  • Elevate the head. 

Another easy way to reduce the pain is by elevating your head. This stops blood from circulating and pooling in the affected areas, relieving pressure and throbbing sensations. Stack two or three pillows together and put your head over them. Keep your head at an upward angle.
